MY personal teaching philosophy
I choose to
become a teacher because I have many goals I want to achieve and purposes I
want to fulfil. My first goal as a teacher especially in foundation phase is to
build the nation by first building its children who are its foundation. I want
to reduce illiteracy rate by encouraging people (children) to go to school and
stay in school. Teach the nation that the best weapon to fight against poverty
is education. My goal will be teaching children for them to get a jump start to
their future.
I want to be a teacher who considers it my duty to
educate and train learners and feel accountable for it. I want to feel that my
learners have been entrusted to me and I should avoid any breach of the trust
the community and society has reposed in me. My roles as a teacher will be
understanding everyday functions and purposes of being a teacher. I will be an
educator who is going to achieve academic growth and able to make appropriate
decisions when involved in school decision making, a teacher who understands
and be able to design learning programmes.
Learning is a life-long process which should be fun
and exciting for the learners to want to engage in it. Learning should not only
end in school it should also go beyond schooling as it can happen even at home
(as home schooling) parents should also help their children with their school
work to improve their learning process and make it easy. Learning is like a
chain, and each lesson and study time is a link in the chain. If the learners
fail to study or miss a lesson without making up for it, then they break the
learning chain and their learning is disrupted.
Teaching is not only done at school or education institution it can also
be done anywhere, where people can be taught and learn about all sort of
things. Teaching is a very important process as almost every career or
profession there is, it is because of teachers and the teaching that happened.
Teaching should not be stressful the teaching environment should also be save
to make the teachers feel comfortable so teaching can be successful.
I will play an important role in building the future
of the children that I will be teaching. I will help the children to discover
and show their talents, I will also help the children to be able to choose the
right career paths. I will play an important role in developing the education
of my country and reduce corruption that is making the education rate decrease.
I will teach concepts essential to the study of all types of English language
and writing skills through lessons of grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, word
usage, essay writing research and writing for a variety of purposes. Curriculum
strategies and lesson plans will support the framework and me to play my role
as a teacher.
The role of the learner in the learning and teaching
situation should entail the being accountable for his/her work, the learner
handing in work in time and making it their responsibility that the work they
have done is neat, correct and put all effort necessary to complete it. The
learner should respect its teachers and make sure that they also make learning
their priority learning and should be prepared to study, so as to be successful
in their work they have undertaken. In order for learners to
achieve this through the teacher is also responsible for the
learning process to a great extent.
I will conduct class according to stated district,
school and classroom policies and procedures. Learners will be treated with
respect and allowed freedom to learn academically and grow socially. My
classroom will reflect an environment where learners are treated equally,
fairly and with dignity. I will implement curricular activities which include
the utilization of the media centre and the computer lab. I will use a variety
of techniques to improve reading comprehension levels, such as timed reading,
understanding words in context and identification if topic statements.
My values are education I value education very much
as I want to see the children who are also the future of South Africa get
educated so they can be better leaders and lead South Africa to better and equality when it comes to getting
education for all. I will be a competent teacher who is able to understand that
assessments is an important part of teaching and learning process and know how
to integrate it into the process of teaching and learning. I will be a teacher
who understands purpose, effects and methods of learning and be able to give
feedback to my learners.
My values are that the learners that I am teaching
should be able to understand me when I am able to communicate with them in an
effective manner. I value safety because I believe that learning should take
place in a safe environment in order for it to be successful and for it to
produce better results.
As an educator I will strive to encourage excellence in my learners and
myself. I feel that I can encourage learners to seek new knowledge and explore
their own ideas by an enthusiastic presentation of both what is, and what is
not known about subjects.
